Fabulous Styles From RUUM American Kid’s Wear and Clarks On The Runway at petitePARADE NYC 2014 #RUUMrunway

29 Oct

RUUM American Kid’s Wear recently opened a store in TriBeCa.  When my youngest took notice to the outfits in the store window as we passed by, she immediately had to go in.  She picked out nearly the entire store, because she LOVED all the gorgeous styles that were displayed.  We walked out with her favorite dress, which she wants to wear almost every day. When I was asked to attend petitePARADE’s 7th (bi-annual) fashion show, featuring RUUM American Kid’s Wear, I asked my girls if they wanted to go.   Their eyes lit up and they started picking out their outfits (even though it was a week away).  My youngest picked her favorite RUUM dress and my oldest picked a dress by Isobella & Chloe. 20141028-234903-85743827.jpg On October 19, the girls put on their outfits they and we headed to Bath House Studios on the Lower East Side. They took their seats, waited for the lights to dim and the show to start.  Out first was RUUM American Kid’s Wear, showcasing their Holiday looks for the upcoming season.  There were so many gorgeous styles for girls. Faux fur, dresses for a princess, stylish knit sweaters, and just enough sparkle and shimmer my little girls loved.  Below are some of our favorite looks from RUUM on the runway:

Up next was Clarks shoes, previewing their kids line for Spring 2015.  The mini-models hit the runway with tons of energy, showcasing all you can do in comfortable Clarks shoes.  The stylish tots to tweens danced,  took the dog for a walk, and did back walk overs down the runway. Here are some looks you will see from Clarks this Spring: petitePARADE / Kids Fashion Week, NYC October 2014 - Day 2 petitePARADE / Kids Fashion Week, NYC October 2014 - Day 2 petitePARADE / Kids Fashion Week, NYC October 2014 - Day 2 petitePARADE / Kids Fashion Week, NYC October 2014 - Day 2 petitePARADE / Kids Fashion Week, NYC October 2014 - Day 2 petitePARADE / Kids Fashion Week, NYC October 2014 - Day 2 My girls had an amazing time watching the kids walk the runway.  They are ready to skip a play date with friends to have a play date with mom to shop for new shoes and  their Holiday outfits.

Summer Shopping at P.S. from Aeropostale

16 May

My girls love to shop and they love to pick their own outfits.  The change of seasons means new clothes and switching out their closets.  Last weekend my youngest and I headed to an Epic Shopping event at P.S. from Aeropostale hosted by Brianne, founder of Stroller in the City.  It was a warm day so we had summer clothes and open toes on our mind.

When we arrived my daughter started coloring with friends and had a snack from Treathouse while I checked out the latest styles.   Once she was ready to shop, she headed straight to the bright, shiny, and colorful sandals (naturally since she is a little girl who LOVES her shoes).   The sandals were so cute, I had to grab a pair for my girls.    Then she went on to find her “favorite” summer outfit (with a little styling help from Brianne) and chose a tiered tank in white with the high-waisted paisley woven shorts in summer citrus.  On our way to the checkout, she noticed the accessories and hair coloring sticks.  After, we checked out, we were able to hit the photo booth to capture our fun, Mother-Daughter Epic Shopping adventure.

It was a wonderful morning, and I was excited to learn about P.S. from Aeropostale.  I had never shopped there for my girls and found so many great styles for summer.  Not to mention the sales were great too.

Spring is finally here!  I’m cleaning out the closets and transitioning my girls clothing into Spring pieces that are colorful and great for either cool or warm Spring days.  Last  winter my daughter received an outfit from Matilda Jane’s Paint by Numbers collection (review here).  It was truly her favorite outfit in her closet.  She was so excited when she received another outfit from Matilda Jane’s newest collection for Spring, It’s A Wonderful Parade!  Her outfit (pictured below) is adorable and perfect for Spring.  She is wearing:

  • The Cloudy Puffer Tee, made with super soft cotton top and has a 3/4 length ruffled sleeve.
  • Love Bug Knot Top, bright, fun, colors. Wear with the Puffer Tee underneath on the cooler days and without on the warmer days.  For the summer, it looks cute paired with denim shorts.
  • Sweet Heart Ruffled Leggings, sweet for a little girl. My daughter loves the hearts and ruffled ankle.  Made with soft cotton, not too heavy.

I love Matilda Jane Clothing because all their pieces are colorful and fun!  They are great quality.  I’m shocked with the amount of times my daughter wore her last outfit and the several times it’s been washed. There has been little fading but it still looks new.  The pieces are beautiful and will keep your little one looking like a little girl.  Some of our other favorites from the It’s A Wonderful Parade Collection include the Everything is Nice Dress, the All A Flutter Peasant Top, the Sorbet Circle Skirt, & the Bliss Shorties (pictured below left to right).

We could hear our favorite music playing and the energy pumping when we arrived.  Bite-sized snacks were passed; grilled cheese, hot dogs, pretzels and cheeseburgers, to name a few, but the favorite for my girls was the cotton candy machine. After a few snacks we made our way to the dance floor for a family dance contest.  Next, the girls headed to get their hands painted by Fantasy Face Painting and Balloons by Sharon. Funny, but we saw her at a party not long ago and she remembered my girls.  They were so excited to get more of her beautiful artwork.

After all the fun, we made our way upstairs to shop the collection.  I really wish we weren’t in a rush, we had to head to my daughters school fashion show, because the collection was awesome, it was hard to choose what to get for my girls.   If you haven’t made it to an H&M since the styles hit stores March 20, you have to stop by.  The new collection is fun, colorful, and most importantly affordable.  Cotton dresses in several prints start at $4.95 are fashionable yet great for play.  The new collection also features some pieces made from organic cotton.  I will definitely be going back for more. Visit HM.com to find out more and shop.

Discover Brands For Kids With The Lil’Stylers App

8 Oct

Picture 24

The other week I was at the park with my daughter.  Another mom approached me asking about my daughters dress (pictured below).  She wanted to know the brand and store I bought it from.  Like her, I often see cute outfits on children and wonder what brand (s) they are wearing and where their parents purchased it from.

20131007-220940.jpg

On October 1st, Lil’Stylers, an awesome new iPhone App launched to help moms and dads connect to brands and shop mobile.  I had the opportunity to try Lil’Stylers before the launch and am loving it.  I’ve discovered Pale Cloud, Duke and Duchess, Two Els, Baby Fish, and so many other brands I would have never known about before using Lil’Stylers.  I also like seeing how “stylers” have pieced together smaller, more expensive brands with brands like GAP and Target to create a stylish look for their child.  I’m not the only one loving the App, my oldest loves scrolling through and picking out looks she likes.  It’s helpful knowing style she like when shopping for her because she likes to dress herself and often doesn’t like what I pick.  I’m excited to continue using the App as it grows and more brands join.20131007-220006.jpg

Download the free App in iTunes now to discover new brands,  see the latest trends for children, shop, and share your favorite photos of your “lil’styler(s)”.  Don’t forget to tag the brands featured in your photos. If you see a look you like and a tag with a shopping bag next to it, the brand has joined Lil’Stylers.  Click on the bag and you can connect to their website easily to start shopping.  Check out the Lil’Stylers video to learn how to use the App!

Lotty Dotty: Unique Shirt Girls Will Love!

3 Sep

Picture 17

My girls love dolls.  I haven’t met many girls that don’t like dolls.   For my girls, one of their favorite activities is picking out what their doll is going to wear  whether they are dressing Barbie, an American Girl or one of their magnetic doll sets.  If you walk into their room they have dolls half-naked trying to figure out what outfit to dress them in next.   When we are out or traveling they use magnetic dress up activities to keep entertained. They love creating their own looks and love having their dolls dress for an occasion.

20130902-205646.jpg

My daughter recently received a Lotty Dotty t-Shirt.  The t-shirt has a screen-print doll with a velcro body suit to attach interchangeable designer outfits.   Lotty Dotty shirts, available for both women and children, are very soft and comfortable. Lotty Dotty uses organic and recyclable materials as much as possible.  Choose your favorite doll and pick a few outfits to dress her up.  The gorgeous interchangeable outfits are created by talented and unknown designers worldwide.  Tote bags are also available with your favorite Lotty Dotty doll on the front.  Use them as a diaper bag, your child’s dance bag or carry your child’s favorite things while on-the-go or traveling.   They will love dressing up the doll.

When my daughter wore it out for the first time, she received many compliments and questions about where the shirt was from.  It is her favorite shirt for back-to-school.  She changes the two outfits multiple times a day.   Lotty Dotty clothing and accessories would make a wonderful gift for the holidays as well as upcoming birthday parties.

Women’s shirts cost $50 and come with one interchangeable outfit.  Additional outfits are available for $12-$15.  Children’s shirts cost $35 with an outfit included.  Additional outfits are available for $7-$18.  Tote bags cost $40. For more information, please visit www.lottydotty.com.

Back-to-School with Justin Boots for Kids

27 Aug

When I shop for footwear for back-to-school, I like to buy things that are versatile and can be worn with most of their outfits. I love cowgirl boots because they can be worn with jeans (tucked in or out), skirts, shorts or dresses. My oldest daughter loves cowgirl boots.  She received her first pair when she was two and insisted on wearing them everyday, even when she outgrew them.   When she received a pair of Justin Boots, she was ecstatic and decided she was going to wear them for the first day of Kindergarten. More after image…

20130826-182513.jpg

A few ways my oldest likes to wear her boots! She was a little disappointed to learn her little sister has caught up and wears the same size!

Justin Boots for Kids come in many gorgeous styles for both boys and girls.  I chose the Justin® Kids Tan Puma Snip Toe Western Boots (pictured above) for my oldest daughter because the design is subtle, beautiful, and they can go with just about everything.   The Puma Snip Toe Western Boots are made of soft leather and feature a patented J-Flex Flexible Comfort System® helps make Justin Boots the most comfortable boots you’ll ever own!   My daughter is very sensitive to touch and is very particular about how things fit.  She was able to walk in her boots with ease and told me they were very comfortable for her when she walked.  She absolutely LOVES the cowgirl heel. I could not stop smiling when she jumped up and down saying “Mom, wow, I can’t believe I have heels on”.  The pull strap makes the boots easy to put on but my daughter had a little difficulty taking them off.  Both of my girls measure around an 11 and the size 11 boot fit them great.  I love the boots so much I am going to order another style, Justin®Children’s Bay Westerner w/ Saddle Vamp in Pink Cowhide (pictured below), for my youngest!

Naturino Rainstep: Our Favorite Winter Boot

17 Jan

20130117-193753.jpgEvery year I end up with a pair of Uggs and a pair of snow boots (that we may or may not ever use) for my girls.  Don’t get me wrong, I think Uggs are great for kids because they are very warm and comfortable but the girls already have mounds of shoes in lined up in my hallway.  This year to cut back on the amount of shoes to trip on or that would hardly be used this winter, I came across an amazing pair of Naturino Rainstep boots at Shoofly in Tribeca!  Naturino’s line of Rainstep shoes and boots are made with an exclusive Natex waterproofing membrane, transpiring water-repellent uppers and sturdy technical materials, feet will be warm and dry even on the coldest winter days. Naturino Rainstep offers mountain boots and shoes with a very urban look, not only in the first-steps range but for older children too. Whether it rains or snows, the adventure continues in total safety! So far they have worked out great!  I have not had one complaint of wet or cold feet and they look fabulous with their dresses, skirts and jeans.  Naturino Rainsteps are now our favorite winter boot!
