Spring Cleaning: Storage Favorites

19 Mar

It’s hard to believe the first day of Spring is tomorrow! Thank goodness because I’m over Winter!  I had planned on getting a jump-start on Spring Cleaning but have been sick on and off the last month.  While cooped up, I’ve searched for pieces of furniture to store their clothing in. Their current storage cabinet is falling apart. Some of my favorites include:

This is Dutch Amsterdam Storage Cabinet, $1,299  This house shaped storage cabinet is adorable!  It comes in twelve different colors and you can choose between three gable choices (bell, step, or neck) and which side the hinges go on.

Ikea Kallax:  The Expedit was one of my favorite purchases.  I have a unit in my living room.  It’s affordable and looks great.  Doors, drawers and bins are options to hide toys and clothing.  While searching, I learned the Kallax will replace my the Expedit and will be available on April 1.  It seems the Kallax will be similar to the Expedit so I’m hoping the drawer and cabinet options will be available too.

The Cube Storage System from Land Of Nod: I think I’m going to have to redo  my girls entire room after seeing how Land of Nod used the entire cube collection them all along one wall for the adorable look below!  Land of Nod also has many storage bin and basket choices to keep your things hidden for a cleaner look.

Circo Tower from Target, $129 Adds a bit of color and  adds extra storage for clothing, accessories, or toys without taking up too much space.

Have A Hip Holiday With Babesta!

7 Nov

Babesta Threads and Babesta Cribz are two children’s stores that I frequent often as a downtown mommy. They have a great selection of children’s toys, furniture, gear and carry some of the hippest clothing in TriBeca. Not to mention Babesta Threads does customized shirts and you can find shirts and dresses from some of your favorite rock-n-roll bands.  A couple of weeks ago I attended Babesta’s Hip Holiday Top 20 Countdown to the Holiday’s at both stores, which are around the corner from each other in TriBeca!  A few that are high on my list from the top 20 are:

1. Loog Guitar: My girls LOVE playing musical instruments and pretending they are in a “band”.  The Loog guitar would be a perfect addition this holiday season to help them create their “band”.   This guitar started off as an academic project in 2010 by designer Rafael Atijas (his master’s thesis). It was launched via Kickstarter, with a goal to raise $15,000 and they raised $65,618. People were excited about the product. The three-string guitar makes it fun and easy for kids to play music. Rafael believes that building the guitar is an integral part of the experience–to be a real guitar hero you have to build it.  $149

2Smash Scrapbook and accessories kit:  Scrapbooking a great way to reminisce on some of my favorite memories.  My older daughter received a scrap-book kit for her birthday and we put old photos in together and talked about our adventures.  Both of my girls love art and they would love working on this scrapbook to capture their memories together this holiday season. This is a perfect gift for a tween, new parent—or really anyone who wants to capture memories in a super cool way. There are even “baby book” versions for mom!

3. Mini Rodini Undies:  I am working on potty-training my youngest.  She has asked for panties instead of diapers.  These beautiful undies would be a great gift for her this holiday season.  2 pack for $22

4.  Snow Globe by Seedling Kids:  This snow globe kit is pretty amazing because you make your own.  It would make a great gift and would be the perfect activity for a snowy day this winter. Model your own figurines out of clay, add water, glitter and shake to make it snow! $28

5. Unicorn Head by DFC: The Mexican design duo casts some of the most amazing animal heads in glitter, gold, silver and any color you desire. My girls have a special horse and unicorn room at their grandparents house that they adore.  This immediately caught my attention because it would be perfect in the room they love so much. Custom made, from $750.
