NurturMe Yum-A-Roo Toddler Snacks, Contest, And FREE IPhone/ IPAD App

31 Jul

My girls love dried fruit and veggies to snack on.  NurturMe recently launched a new line of toddler snacks, Yum-A-Roos Organic Dried Fruit and Veggie Toddler Snacks, that we are excited to try. To celebrate the launch, they have created an App and are running a contest for an IPAD mini (more details below).

About Yum-A-Roos:

Big nutrition designed for little hands, NurturMe’s new Yum-a-Roo’s organic dry toddler snacks are made from bite-sized pieces of fruits and veggies that easily dissolve in the mouth. Tasty and good for little ones ages 1 year and older, Yum-a-Roo’s are extra nutritious since they contain veggies, in addition to fruit, and are dried – a NurturMe process that preserves the nutrients, freshness and flavor. Kiddos love the taste, and parents love that there’s 1.5 servings of fruits and/or veggies in every pouch. Yum-a-Roo’s are available in four flavors Tropical Twist (Banana, Mango and Pineapple), Caribbean Crop (Pea, Banana and Pineapple), Happy Harvest (Peas, Sweet Corn and Apple) and Bountiful Bites (Banana, Apple and Broccoli).

Yum A Roos can be purchased at a location near you or online at:

I’m always looking for educational Apps to keep my girls entertained on car rides, while waiting for doctors appointments or when they get restless while waiting to pay the bill at a restaurant.  I was excited to learn NuturMe created a FREE IPhone/ IPad App for toddlers to celebrate the launch of Yum-A-Roos.   “Roo” will teach toddlers about their favorite Fruit and Vegetables.  The Yum-A-Roo App can be downloaded here:

Thirsty Thurday: Bottles To Keep Hydrated

25 Jul

20130725-115313.jpgWe just returned from a very hot week in the Outer Banks. I can’t really complain about the heat because we did not have a drop of rain and stayed on the beach from morning to night with brief breaks inside to snack or eat.  With the amount of time we were playing in the sun, it was extremely important to make sure we were drinking enough water and fluids.  I have never seen my girls go through so many water bottles.  We went through 1/2 a case of water a day and quite a few Fruitables.  After seeing how much we were drinking, it was better to take re-useable bottles.  Here are some of our favorites to help keep hydrated during the remaining summer days whether at the beach, at the park, at the pool, running in the backyard, or running errands to get ready for back-to-school (see below image):

1. Cool Gear Inc Can:  Fun for parents and kids, this 16 oz can keeps drinks cold up to 6 hours and is fun to use to keep hydrated in the sun.  Fill with water, iced coffee for mommy, juice or follow the cute drink recipe on the back of the can. On my trip, I rceived lots of compliments on my can and many asking where to get one. You can find them at Walmart, and Bed, Bath and Beond.   Cool Gear Inc also has a variety of other fun bottles you and your family will love.

2. Tervis Water Bottle:  Also great for parents and kids because of the many great designs and holds up to 24 ounces of water, perfect for long outings and very hot days.

3. Pottery Barn Kids Klean Kanteen:  Love the adorable styles.  This bottle can be personalized.  It is the perfect size for little ones on the go.

5. Thermos Smoke Hydration Bottle:  This is my oldest daughters favorite because she loves the flip top carrying loop.  It is great for adults too. The bottle holds up to 24 ounces of water with a leak-proof proof lid and a rotating meter lets you monitor your daily water consumption.

4. Stephen Joseph Little Squirts:  We have not used this bottle but my daughter saw it recently and asked for it as a birthday/ back-to-school gift.  The cute pouches are re-usable, freezeable, foldable and perfect for a quick drink on-the-go!

Beach Essentials

23 Jul

We just got back from a week in the Outer Banks.  Every morning, before heading to the beach, we gathered these essentials to make sure the girls had fun in the sun!

1. Melissa and Doug Seaside Sidekicks Cupcake Set:  Their favorite sand toy.  They love to make cupcakes in the send and pretend they are making custom orders for my husband and I.  The new friends they make on the beach are also drawn to this toy.  It gets them to use their imagination and engage in pretend play.

2. Kids Folding Canopy Chair:  A break from the sun is necessary every so often.  The girls enjoyed sitting in this canopy chair when they needed a snack, drink, or just wanted to rest.  The canopy provides some shade so they can sit back and enjoy watching the waves crash while on the look out for their favorite dolphin friends.

3. Large Shovel & Bucket: My girls never get tired of digging for sand crabs, building walls, and filling buckets with sand or shells.  We used a plastic paint pail for the girls to fill with their treasures and sand.

4. Baby Pool: The ocean is scary when large waves crash so it’s nice to have a small baby pool filled with some ocean water to help your little ones cool off.  It may take multiple trips to fill but it’s definitely worth it if you want to spend the day on the beach.

6. Paddle Ball:  Although it was difficult for her, my oldest daughter had a great time playing paddle ball with her dad and uncles.  She felt like a “big girl”.

Wordless Wednesday: Duck Donuts

17 Jul

I can’t remember the last time I had a donut. It’s been a while but a week in the Outer Banks wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Duck Donuts . Create your own Donut with choice of icing, glaze, powdered sugar or bare topped with your favorite sprinkle or fruit. The Maple Bacon Donut and the “Beach” (vanilla icing with cinnamon) are a must when visiting!

Cooling Off With Caudalie

The heat has been unbearable this summer, especially the past week. The girls want to go to the park almost every day so we often come back hot and sweaty.  It’s hard to feel refreshed with out taking a shower.  Not long ago, I attended an event at the  Caudalie store in the West Village and I purchased the Vinosource Hydration Set ($48).  The set includes:

Vinosource S.O.S. Serum: This best-selling lightweight moisturizing serum restores moisture balance, leaving skin feeling soft and supple.
Vinosource Sorbet: This fast absorbing gel-cream has immediate and long-lasting calming properties. Refreshes and hydrates. Perfect for all skin types, even the most sensitive.
Grape Water: Made from 100% certified organic grapes. Extracted from grapes during the harvest, this fine mist soothes, refreshes and moisturizes the skin at any time of the day.

Gift sets are great because you can get a little of everything to figure out what you like.  I LOVE the Caudalie Grape Water spray.  My girls and I give each other a nice spray to help us feel refreshed after being in the sun.  I also  spray myself after a long run or when I wake up in the morning.

About the Caudalie Event:

20130712-184047.jpgFounder Mathilde Thomas was at the event to meet guests and talk about how the Caudalie beauty line began.  Caudalie was founded in 1993 by Mathilde Thomas and her husband, Bertrand, during the harvest on her family’s vineyard, Château Smith Haut Lafitte, in France. She had a vision to create a natural beauty product based on what you eat and drink.  Caudalie means the unit measuring the duration of the wine’s flavor on the palette.  All the products are derived from the polyphenols extracted from the grape-seeds, the most powerful antioxidants grown.    She often gets asked if it’s hard-working with her husband but she said it wasn’t, one creates while the other one sells the products.

In addition to learning about the product line, guests received either a facial or a tanning tint using.  I chose the facial.  It was amazing.  The products have a beautiful scent and texture.  It also made me realize that I need to take better care of my skin.  It was a lovely evening and a pleasure to meet Mathilde Thomas.

Bunny Love (@BarefootDreams)

13 Jul

When I was pregnant with my oldest child, my friend gave me a Barefoot Dreams Cozy Chic Bunny Buddie as a baby shower gift. She never got attached to it so it just sat in a drawer. A few years later, when my second was a few months old, my oldest found “Bunny” and gave it to her little sister. My youngest and “Bunny” have been inseparable ever since. Of course with the exception of when “Bunny” takes a bubble bath and she has to use the back-up bunny. She doesn’t like back-up bunny nearly as much and tosses it to the side as soon as her favorite bunny is done drying.
I mentioned in my MAM post that we can’t go anywhere without the duo “paci and bunny”. If they get left we have serious problems, especially bunny because my daughter has to rub her satin ears against her face to fall asleep; some part of bunny always has to be touching her. My youngest also gives bunny love by rubbing bunny against our cheeks. Bunny is her best friend and lovie so if something were to happen she would be heartbroken. We were an hour away from leaving for The beach for a week when I hear cries “bunny, bunny, bunny… ” coming from the other room as I was finishing packing. My older daughter kept saying don’t come in here Mom so I knew something had happened but I wasn’t ready for what I walked into.

20130713-080826.jpgMy heart sank when I saw “Bunny”. My youngest couldn’t stop crying, her sister hurt bunny. She was trying to steal it away why bunny split down the belly. My oldest started crying because she felt horrible and it was sweet because she kept telling my youngest she could have her teddy to sleep with. I knew that wasn’t going to work and the other bunny wouldn’t work so I had to start surgery on bunny before we jumped in the car for a long ride to the beach. Both girls fell asleep because they had gotten so upset. An hour later surgery was complete. Bunny will have a scar but my youngest was relieved when she woke up to bunny next to her and was even more excited to have her for the long car ride.

We love our Barefoot Dreams Bunny. One of the best gifts I received and although my oldest didn’t use it, my youngest has gotten so much love and joy from it.
Does your child have lovie or security blanket? Have you had a moment in which you lost it or it tore? What did you do?

My first daughter never used a pacifier but my second can’t leave home without her “paci” and “Bunny”.  We are working on saying goodbye to her beloved MAM pacifier but she isn’t quite ready to part with it.  She uses it when she takes a nap or to help her fall asleep at night.  MAM products have been a big part of our life, whether we were using a bottle or a pacifier. Both of my girls loved the shape of the nipple and my youngest would only take a MAM pacifier.  In addition to having a great shape and a soft nipple, they come in a variety of adorable designs.   Recently, the MAM Perfect Pacifier, the Mini Air Pacifier and the MAM Trainer won the 2013 National Parenting Publications Awards which puts them on an elite list of “must-have” products for parents.

Happy 4th Of July

4 Jul

Wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th of July. So grateful for everyone who has fought and continues to fight or our freedom!

A Stylish 4th of July

2 Jul

My girls LOVE to get dressed up.  Even if it’s a day at the park they want to dress to impress.  They pick their favorite dresses and put on their “fanciest” shoes so when they heard “4th of July celebration”, they decided that they needed something new.  One option we looked at was Oscar de la Renta.  The festive yet classic pieces are beautiful and can be worn on other special occasions.  My favorites are the sailor outfits.  Add red flats, a red bracelet or a red bow for little girls to give their outfit an extra festive flare. To learn more or to shop Oscar de la Rena click here.  Have a Happy 4th of July!
