Braving The Streets of NYC In A Miraclesuit {Review and Giveaway}

23 Jun

Hosted by MomTrends, Miraclesuit and Wilhelmina model Roshumba Willliams

A few weeks ago I received an e-mail from MomTrends looking for mom bloggers to volunteer to wear Miraclesuits® during their event withMiraclesuits®.   I was hesitant because the e-mail said there was a possible appearance on the TODAY show. I was with my mom when I got the e-mail, told her about it and she told me I should do it.  I impulsively replied back that I would, not knowing all the details. I am usually pretty shy and it takes a glass of wine or two for me to come out of my shell, so this was a BIG challenge for me.  Once I started finding out more and more details I had thought about backing out but decided I needed that challenge.  I can now say I braved NYC on a SWELTERING HOT day in a Miraclesuit® with Wilhelmina model Roshumba Williams and eighteen other women to celebrate the first day of summer.

Prior to the event I went into the Miraclesuit® office to try on different suits to find one that fit me best for the big day.  Miraclesuit®  designer swimwear will make you Look 10 Lbs Lighter in 10 Seconds, the time it takes to slip one on. Miraclesuit® swimsuits are constructed from a proprietary blend of control fabric called Miratex. This fabric slims and slenderizes without relying on constrictive control panels or inner linings. The high concentration of Lycra spandex means that Miraclesuit’s keep their shape… and yours.(from Miraclesuit.comI don’t usually wear a one piece and I usually do strapless but I loved the suit I ended up with.  It was comfortable and slimming, sometimes one pieces aren’t very flattering but this suit was.  I even loved the low V neck line.  I felt great in it and will definitely be wearing it again poolside with my two girls.

Sonatina Swimwear $142, similar to the style I was wearing.

The Miraclesuit Celebrates Summer Event took place on Thursday, June 20 in NYC.  On the morning of the event all the women in swimsuits, myself included, met at Rockefeller center in our heels and suits.  We walked around Rockefeller Center wishing everyone a happy first day of summer and passed out flyers about the promo for free shipping all day.  After we headed into the NBC store to be in the audience of the questions asked during the panel of “Guys Tell All” (click and watch video to see if you can find Miraclesuit® women) during Kathie Lee and Hoda on the TODAY show.  After taking over Rockefeller Center we joined Roshumba Williams and fellow bloggers on a NYC double-decker sightseeing bus and made stops around Manhattan handing out Miraclesuit Giveaway Bags. In about 100 bags there were “golden tickets”, redeemable for a FREE Miraclesuit® valued at $150.  Despite the heat, everyone was energetic and pumped to celebrate the start of “summer in the city”.

Tea Party and Other Great Games

22 Jun

My older daughter, 3 1/2, has become interested in playing games together.  One evening she had my husband pull out Monopoly and asked him to teach her to play (way over her head).  We don’t have many games that are good for her to play.  I was telling a friend that she has a sparked interest in group games and she told me about a Cupcake Game her daughter, also 3 1/2, had received as a gift and loved.  We happened to be together at Hombom Toys, a new toy store in TriBeca, when we came across the Cupcake Game– a spinner game by Eeboo.  They had a variety of games by Eeboo so we let the girls pick which game they liked best.  My daughter ended up chosing the adorable Tea Party Spinner Game and LOVES it.  A week after getting the Tea Party game and playing at least twice a day, we went back to Hombom Toys for another game, this time she chose the Cupcake Spinner Game.  The Eeboo spinner games have been wonderful for Friday Fun Nights where we either watch a movie and have popcorn or play games.  They are also great for rainy days and super hot summer days. We have also taken the games to the park and laid out a blanket to play on days with beautiful weather.  I checked out Eeboo’s site to see what other products they have and they have a variety of products; puzzles, decorations, travel games, write me a story and more.  I look forward to purchasing more products and games by Eeboo.

About the games we purchased (all information in italics and images below are from Eeboo.com):

Spinner GamesEeboo has perfected the art of spinner games. The arrows on all their spinners are clear, so there is no question about where the arrow stops. Attached with a rivet on a spacer, the arrows spin freely with a flick of the finger. Each game takes a different tack to build the relational skills of game playing while promoting an assortment of literacy and math skills. Pieces are of sturdy card stock. Each contains clear directions with ideas for additional ways to play.

Time for Tea!
Spin for a plate and napkin first,
Then some tea to quench your thirst.
Mind your manners if you please
But lose a turn if you see bees!
Ta-ta for now, I have to run;
I finished first and I have won!

To play, just check the recipe, and spin for what you’ll need
To bake up perfect cupcakes, satisfaction guaranteed.
Even though it’s make believe, it’s splendid what you’ll learn.
Try not to spin the rotten egg, or you will lose a turn!
Be first to gather what you need and you will be a winner,
And an expert cupcake maker, without spoiling your dinner!

Enjoy Life Foods: Chewy Bars {Review}

13 Jun

Image from Enjoy Life Foods

I recently had the opportunity to try Enjoy Life Foods Chewy Bars in four flavors: Sunbutter Crunch, Caramel Apple, Coco Loco, and  Very Berry.  Each bar is portioned controlled to 1 oz and packed full of essential vitamins and minerals for added health benefits (Enjoy Life Foods ).  The texture or consistency is soft and chew and reminded me of a protein bar. My favorite flavors were the Coco Loco and the Sunbutter Crunch.  The Sunbutter Crunch is great for days I crave peanut butter and cannot have any due to my daughters peanut allergy.  My girls prefered the Very Berry bars since they love fruit and are full of a “very berry” flavor.

We eat Enjoy Life Foods Chewy Bars for breakfast and dip them in yogurt, my girls love dipping their right now. They also eat them as a snack between meals mainly when we are on long car rides or in the stroller because they don’t crumble like most cereal bars and are less of a mess.  Enjoy Life Foods Chewy Bars make a great addition to snack time at playgroups and at school because they are free of the 8 common allergies and kids can “eat freely“.  Not only do we love them for breakfast and snacks, they also make a great dessert- alone or with ice cream. I plan on making Crunchy Chocolate Dippers, from Enjoy Life, with the girls this weekend for our Fathers Day BBQ.

Taking a break to snack on an Enjoy Life Chewy Bar!

Too much scooting made her hungry. Snacking on an Enjoy Life Chewy Bar!

Lemons, Vodka, Pedicure?? I’ll Take All Three

12 Jun

Image from Sweet Lily

Last year my brother-in-law gave me a gift certificate to Sweet Lily Natural Nail Spa, an all green spa, for my birthday.  I don’t get manicures or pedicures very often because I usually chip my nails within minutes of returning home to the girls.  A couple of weeks ago, I needed to get one for the wedding I was in so I gave Sweet Lily Natural Nail Spa a try.  The gift certificate was for a manicure and the Sweet and Simple Pedicure in a cucumber and peppermint aromatherapy bath.  I was a little hesitant  when I walked into the Salon and only saw arm chairs and bowls- a nail salon without spa baths..what?  It ended up being one of the best and most relaxing pedicures I have ever had. Upon entering I was offered, water, tea, or a glass of white wine while I looked for a neutral color for the wedding.  I ended up going with a french pedicure using Zoya Sabrina, a new favorite color that is formaldehyde, DBP, toluene and camphor free. A week and a half after getting the pedicure it still looks good.

What I loved about the salon:

  • It is very clean. They used sterilized, individually packaged tools.
  • They use all natural ingredients: fruit, vegetables, minerals and oils.
  • The staff was friendly and my technician asked me throughout my experience if I needed anything to make me comfortable.
  • The nail polish they use is toxin free, so I don’t have to worry if I take the girls for a special mani and pedi with mommy.

Why I can’t wait to go back (hint to my hubby since my birthday is just around the corner):

I loved my experience at Sweet Lily Natural Nail Spa. While I was getting my pedicure I was checking out the refreshing country/ cottage decor and saw a sign for their seasonal Lemon Vodka Pedicure.  The description on their website is: It’s flip flop season! Celebrate by dipping your digits into a cocktail of fresh sliced lemons with a splash of Voli ® Lemon Vodka. After filing and grooming cuticles, we’ll exfoliate heels to perfection using our lemon wedge sugar rub. Moisturize with a refreshing citrus foot massage and top it off with an application of your favorite summer polish. Now you’re ready to flaunt those pretty feet! Lemon Juice contains malic and citric acid, natural alphahydroxies that help to slough off dead skin cells. Vodka is a natural antiseptic and solvent good for cleansing feet. The  Lemon Vodka Pedicure is $68 and lasts 60 minutes.  It sounds wonderful and just what a tired, moms feet need after a long week chasing around little ones.

Sweet Lily Natural Nail Spa is located in TriBeca at 222 West Broadway.

Mom Made Foods: Making Meal Time Easier {Review and Giveaway}

7 Jun

Last week was a pretty hectic week.  We went away for Memorial Day and when I got back I was rushing to get the class gift together for the last day of school and running around getting ready for my friend’s wedding which was Saturday.  The girls were staying the weekend with my mom so I also had a lot of grocery shopping to do. I usually just go to Whole Foods daily so I needed to make sure I had enough food for my mom and the girls so she wouldn’t have to go out. It was such a busy week preparing for the weekend and catching up from being away, easy meals were the way to go.  I stocked the freezer with Mom Made Foods and made sure to have plenty of pasta, sandwich meat, and anything easy to prepare.  The favorite for the girls was the Mom Made Meals Spaghetti and Meatballs.  My girls love it so much, Pela had to carry the box through Whole Foods one day and ate it as soon as we got home.  The girls have tried the Mom Made Mac & Cheese, Turkey Meatball Bites, Bean Burrito Munchie and Cheese Pizza Munchie and have enjoyed them all.  Mom Made Foods are perfect for when you are getting ready to go away and don’t have time to make a meal.  Mom Made Meals are quick and delicious-my husband has been known to eat the Spaghetti and Meatball on nights we don’t cook.  Click to find Mom Made Foods near you.

Comes with 4 bite size meatballs. I like serving in our Oogaa bowls to make re-heating easy if the girls don’t finish it all.
